I was floored. Never mind that we are trained in all aspects of First Aid and CPR. Never mind that we learn with experience how to deal with the most difficult of frightened children, often times even better than the parents do. YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME
Please keep in mind that said friend is not in EMS, has been a perpetual part-time college student with undecided major for the better part of her 27 year old adult life.
The only stressing event she has ever been privy to witnessing is my Hunny coming home after 36 hours on the truck after responding to a DOA 6 year old that had been tortured, sexually abused in all imaginable means, and kept in a dog cage, malnourished and emaciated, with oblivious and unmerciful mother and boyfriend present at the crime scene.
That's enough to make ANY pubic safety responder uber-stressed, angry, depressed, you name it. My Hunny still gets tearful when talking about that run.
But how does that instantly qualify the whole LOT of us as bad babysitters or roll models for children?
I am sooooo steamed.
But I want other's feedback and input on this one.
Lemmie have it What do YOU think folks?
